Gary Bell to Play Golf with The Lost Colony
(Manteo, N.C., March 27, 2008) –Red Sox Impossible Dream Team player Gary Bell will be playing in The Lost Colony’s 8th Annual Invitational Golf Classic. In his baseball career, Bell played for the Cleveland Indians (1958-1967), Boston Red Sox (1967-1968), Seattle Pilots (1969), and the Chicago White Sox (1969). He was an American League All-Star Team member in 1960, 1966 and 1968. When the Red Sox played in the 1967 World Series, he pitched three games. In his career, he won 121 games with 51 saves. In 2001 he was chosen as one of the top 100 Cleveland Indian all-time players. Bell and his 1967 Red Sox team mates were called the Impossible Dream Team because they staged an impressive come-back, making it to the World Series for the first time since 1947. Though they did not win the Series, their impressive rebound gave them the enduring name. Members of the team will be on the Outer Banks to play golf and meet the other participants in The Lost Colony’s Annual Golf Classic on April 18 at Duck Woods Country Club. If golf isn’t your game, you can meet the players at a pre-game social at the Country Club on April 17. For details on how you can play golf or meet members of the 1967 Boston Red Sox Team, contact The Lost Colony at 252-473-2127 ext 223.
