PRESS RELEASE
from http://www.outerbanks.org/

ROANOKE ISLAND-Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s Tarradiddle Players bring the legend of Robin Hood and his merry men to life in “The Commedia Robin Hood” which begins the Summer Children’s Performance Series at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The show will run June 26-29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Film Theatre. The show is free to general admission ticket holders and Friends of Elizabeth II. All guests must have a ticket. Friends of Elizabeth II may pick up tickets in advance at the Park’s Visitor Center during the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or call in advance to reserve the tickets. All others may call (252) 475-1500 to reserve tickets
Performed in the style of Commedia dell’arte, the production uses farce and slapstick to give this timeless tale a hilarious new twist. With just a few quick costume and prop changes, four actors recreate the adventures of the English outlaw who robs from the rich to give to the poor. Audiences will cheer for Robin Hood as he battles Little John on the bridge, makes friends with the loveably droll Friar Tuck, and outwits the bumbling Sheriff of Nottingham to win the lovely Maid Marion.
Playwright Lane Riosley’s series of “Commedia” plays are a beloved part of the Tarradiddle repertoire, and “The Commedia Robin Hood” is a delightfully silly introduction to a classic story. The show stars Tarradiddle Players Company: Robby Fulton, Leslie Ann Giles, Chaz Pofahl, and Greta Marie Zandstra.
The mission of Roanoke Island Festival Park is to involve residents and visitors, of all ages, in a creative and stimulating exploration of Roanoke Island’s historical, cultural and natural resources. For more information about this event call (252) 475-1500 or visit us on-line at www.roanokeisland.com.
