Avid cyclists and road bikers are especially invited to join area bikers for an extensive tour of the Knotts Island area of the Outer Banks during the Knotts Island Century - 100 miles of exploration, scenery, and fun. What:31st Annual Knotts Island CenturyWhen: Sunday, June 17th, 2007Where: From Chesapeake, VA to Knotts Island in Currituck County Click here to download an application from the Tidewater Bicycle Association to participate. What It Is The Knotts Island Century is an annual ride put on by members of the Tidewater Bicycle Association. This year the ride will start at the Wallaceton Ruritan Club (the old Gertie s Schoolhouse), at 4032 Bunch Walnuts Road, Chesapeake, Virginia (Click here for a map). The event will consist of three different rides: * The English Century (100 miles) - which includes a trip on the Knotts Island Ferry * The Metric Centric (66 miles) * The Half Metric Century (about 30 miles) The Knotts Island Century event provides a day of fun and exercise for cyclists of all levels of skill, and draws hundreds of bikers annually to the Hampton Roads and Currituck areas. Whether you compete professionally or just want to take in the blue skies and beautiful Currituck Sound scenery, definitely make plans for the ride of your life!
