IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Outer Banks YMCA Prayer Breakfast Features The Russian Bear
Ivan Koloff, The Russian Bear, will share his personal testimony and inspirational message at the Outer Banks Family YMCA Annual Prayer Breakfast May 3rd , 7:30 am, at the Sea Ranch Hotel, Mile Post 7 in Kill Devil Hills.
A Canadian native, Koloff now resides in Greenville, NC, pursuing an active schedule ministering, performing charity work, and attending independent wrestling events.
As the Russian Bear, Koloff was known as a villain, a bad boy of wrestling. He rose to fame in
1971 pinning and defeating his hero Bruno Sammartino for the WWF title. Opponents included Dusty Rhodes, Rick Flair, Andre the Giant, and Ivan Putski. Friends include Black Jack Mulligan and Roddy Rowdy Piper. For 31 years he intimidated opponents in the U.S., Europe, Japan, Australia, and The West Indies.
Officially retired in 1994, Koloff became a Christian in 1996 and embarked on the road to ministry. Kolof’s message is straightforward about wrong choices leading him to prison and lost time and life experiences due to drugs and alcohol addictions.
Wrestling fans will hear the story and see the faces of the two “Ivans”, before and after Christianity.
The annual prayer breakfast is part of the national prayer week. The program is sponsored by the Outer Banks Family YMCA and Pathways International. Tickets are $10 per person and are available in advance at the Outer Banks Family YMCA and Pathways International. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
